Glascock County Last Standing in Battle of COVID-19

Glascock County Last in Georgia to Remain Without Coronavirus Case

Caleb Andrews - May 3 2020

Glascock County has remained without a confirmed case of COVID-19 the longest of any county in Georgia, according to Georgia Department of Public Heath statistics. This comes after Taliaferro County was confirmed to have it's first case Sunday.
Glascock is the fourth-least populated county in Georgia, with the county seat of Gibson having only 663 residents. Taliaferro, the lest populous Georgia county, also had no cases until Sunday at the noon update of the Georgia DPH's COVID-19 status report page. This comes after Governor Kemp lifted stay-at-home orders for most Georgia residents, later amending the issue telling seniors to remain on lockdown.
Glascock is home to just under 3,000 people, and three small cities: Edgehill, Gibson, and Mitchell. The county is named after Thomas Glascock Jr., a veteran of the War of 1812 and First Seminole War, and U.S. representative.
